A Day At The Museum

The art museum or art gallery is a perfect place for photographers, novice or advanced, to study the use of light and composition as it is employed by the artist.  Besides the educational aspect- the museum also offers wonderful people shooting possibilities.  It is interesting to watch how the patrons bond with the art they are viewing.

Most museums will allow you to use your camera without flash or tripod.  Before starting this shooting experience check each of the gallery rooms for lighting as it relates to your ISO setting- I usually set my ISO at one setting that will enable me to shoot at f/8 with a shutter speed no lower than 1/30 of a second.  Then, while you are enjoying and studying the artwork –watch how your fellow art lovers react to the various pieces of artwork for interesting possibilities.

Faces of Exit 270 Part 8

What can I say -the landscape of Exit 270 is the people I find occupying this space.  These faces are what give life to this exit.  I hope not to offend any of them by showing their images here.

Windows

Windows
Looking in
Looking out
My thoughts
Imprisoned from within

Windows have always fascinated me from an art viewpoint.  They are sort of like picture frames that enclose a seemingly hidden image within –leaving the viewer speculating on what lies beyond.  Windows frame the mystery that lies behind them.

The Line

I am always attracted to the lines which makeup the shape and form of the image before me or even in my thought processes.  I use the line and light often as sometimes the main subject of my image.   The challenge is to take the horizontal and vertical lines within a subject and make them the main focal point of the composition.
