Still life photography generally makes one think of
vases with flowers with a few well-placed objects completing the setting. I have always found it a pleasing pursuit
that gives you a chance to explore ideas, composition and lighting in a micro
setting.
The following arrangements are a group of simple
subjects off the kitchen counter –using window light and a black
background. Items are grouped with a
minimum of included props. Using layered
masks in Photoshop, a background image superimposed over the original and
painting in selected areas of the image- to create a sort of still life
painting effect.
So check out your kitchen counter - there are images lurking there –waiting for
you to explore photographically.
