Kitchen Portraits

Still life photography generally makes one think of vases with flowers with a few well-placed objects completing the setting.  I have always found it a pleasing pursuit that gives you a chance to explore ideas, composition and lighting in a micro setting.

The following arrangements are a group of simple subjects off the kitchen counter –using window light and a black background.  Items are grouped with a minimum of included props.  Using layered masks in Photoshop, a background image superimposed over the original and painting in selected areas of the image- to create a sort of still life painting effect.

So check out your kitchen counter  - there are images lurking there –waiting for you to explore photographically.
